Henson Consulting, a Chicago-based full-service boutique public relations firm, was founded in 2001 by Kathleen Henson. With over two decades of public relations experience, Kathleen has worked in a variety of both media relations and marketing positions in some of the most well-known and recognizable corporations. In addition to their professional services, Henson Consulting is also pioneering the way in which people do business and communicate on a professional and personal level. As part of Kathleen’s vision, Henson Consulting was founded on six core principles; the first of which is KINDNESS. This principle launched their innovative campaign, called Random Acts of Kindness.

“Random Acts of HC is our own take on Random Acts of Kindness. During the year, each full-time employee receives $100 to spend during an assigned week to do kind things across the city. It has already had quite an impact on the firm’s employees, who daily celebrate a culture of kindness. Employees have been empowered by spreading happiness and good deeds to random people they meet during their work week. One team member, who recently beat Ovarian Cancer one year ago, decided to surprise her nurses on her one-year anniversary of being cancer-free with a special hand delivered dinner during their overnight shift and we captured the moment on camera. Other #KindnessIsContagious moments include buying lunch for nearby construction workers, buying coffee for the person behind you in line at Starbucks, $100 tips for servers, and even surprising police officers in line at the grocery store by paying their bill. Each moment is photographed and shared on social media with a card saying: #KindnessIsContagious. It is HC’s hope that through these special moments, others will be inspired to continue these kind gestures.
