What is Hyde Park Angels?

Hyde Park Angels is an organization of angel investors who provide early-stage investing to regional projects and startups. They are considered the largest and most active angel investing group in the Midwest. As a membership based organization, their member database includes over 100 entrepreneurs, executives and venture capitalists who provide strategic insight and expertise to the entrepreneurial community. Since 2006, they have invested millions of dollars into over 30 companies, creating over 500 jobs throughout the Midwest.

Why is it on the ParadigmNEXT radar?

Similar to our last Featured Friday about Chicago Ventures, ParadigmNEXT is frequently a partner in the initial stages of working with entrepreneurs. Not only do they provide brand development, digital marketing and strategic implementation, they also provide the necessary introductions to sources of funding. With quality organizations like Hyde Park Angels, ParadigmNEXT is able to find a variety of sources who will not only provide capital, but also industry expertise.

How is it impacting the industry?

Hyde Park Angels is different in that members are heavily screened prior to being invited to join the organization, in the form of sponsorship by two existing members, an application round and survey completion. Members are expected to invest at least $250,000 over a 5 year span in order to actively participate as a member. The businesses they invest in vary from healthcare to technology and digital media. With pivotal organizations like Hyde Park Angels, more entrepreneurs in the Midwest area are able to build their dreams through funding and mentorship. This not only positions the Midwest as a leader in the startup  industry, but it also creates jobs and opportunities for the people who live here.
